Venue: East Linton Bowling Club
1. Singleton Malt Master’s Selection
• Nose: Light and fruity, with notes of green apple, honey, and subtle vanilla. There might also be a gentle malty sweetness.
• Palate: Smooth and approachable, with flavors of caramel, orchard fruits (like pear and apple), and hints of hazelnut.
• Finish: Soft and sweet, with a lingering maltiness and a touch of oak.
2. Aberlour 16 Double Cask
• Nose: Rich and complex, with aromas of dark chocolate, raisins, and dried fruits from the sherry cask influence. There’s also a hint of spice, like cinnamon or nutmeg.
• Palate: Creamy and well-rounded, with flavors of caramel, dried fruits, and a hint of toffee. The oak brings in warming spices like cloves and a hint of nuttiness.
• Finish: Long and slightly spiced, with lingering notes of sweet sherry, fruit, and a touch of oak.
3. Deanston 18
• Nose: Subtle and malty with a delicate sweetness. Notes of vanilla, honey, and citrus zest are common, with a hint of oak.
• Palate: Lightly spiced and creamy, with flavors of vanilla custard, honeyed nuts, and a gentle citrus edge. There’s also a subtle toffee and malt character.
• Finish: Medium to long, with a soft, sweet finish highlighted by gentle oak and spice.
4. Edradour Caledonia
• Nose: Rich and fruity, with prominent notes of sherry, raisins, and plums, along with caramel and dark chocolate. There’s a slight earthiness and a hint of spice.
• Palate: Full-bodied and rich, showcasing sherry influences with flavors of dark fruits (figs, dates), toffee, and dark chocolate. You might also notice a hint of almond or hazelnut.
• Finish: Long and warming, with lingering sherry sweetness, dried fruit, and a gentle oak spice.
5. Springbank 15
• Nose: Earthy and slightly smoky, with notes of caramel, dried fruits, and a touch of leather. There’s also a saltiness, characteristic of coastal whiskies, with hints of vanilla and spice.
• Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with flavors of dark chocolate, raisins, oak, and a slight peat smoke. There’s also a salty brine, along with notes of nutmeg and cloves.
• Finish: Long and complex, with an earthy, smoky finish and a touch of spice, lingering sweetness, and briny notes.
6. Benromach Peated Sherry Cask
• Nose: Bold and intense, with smoky peat combined with dark sherry influences. Expect aromas of dark chocolate, dried fruits, and a bit of leather or tobacco.
• Palate: Full-bodied, with powerful flavors of peat smoke, rich sherry notes (dark fruits, raisins), and a touch of bitter chocolate. There’s also a spicy kick from the high ABV, with some sweet malt.
• Finish: Long and warming, with smoky, sherried fruit, and a bit of oaky spice. The high ABV makes the finish particularly intense.
